Hubby and I had a nice Saturday. The weather has become very wintry, with cold temperatures and snow over the last couple of weeks. This weekend was one storm after the other -- the first on Friday and the next on Sunday.
We took advantage of the lull on Saturday to drive out of town and see a basketball game. For years, we both played and also spent a lot of time watching our kids play. Now they're all done, so we enjoy watching the kids of friends play, so that's what we're doing this winter. We enjoyed a snowy drive up river to a little down nestled in the hills to watch a high school basketball tournament. It was really gorgeous up there and our team won in double overtime!
After that we drove back to town and went to a Christmas party for hubby's family and to welcome his niece home after a year overseas serving in the Army. This is her first leave since last year and she gets to be home for a couple of weeks before she goes back.
All in all, it was a nice day. We ventured out just briefly today. It snowed during the night and it snowed off and on all day today. We shoveled the driveway twice. Lucky for us we don't have sidewalks. But mostly it was a day to stay cuddled up inside and be thankful for electricity. It's supposed to snow a lot more tonight so it could be an interesting drive to work tomorrow. I'm not at all nervous about driving in snow and ice. My car does well and I know enough to take it easy. But I do worry about crazy drivers who don't consider that it might take longer to stop on six inches of packed ice and snow than on asphalt.
